[For those of you who might not get the obscure film reference in the title, you've not seen Flash Gordon recently - check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5HfDIwNI8w]

| Back at our base in Koh Smui for another lovely sunset |
 |
| Leaving Koh Pha Ngan behind |
 |
| First dive down - knackered! |
We arose, very skeptically, at an unreasonable hour to get packed before
the start of the dive trip, not for one second believing it was going to
happen. Great to be mistaken, even if it did mean a slight concern on what type
of water conditions we’d be facing…
 |
| Second dive down - sunburnt! Knew we'd forgotten something... |
The car journey was probably more intense than the boat – Tony sat on the
open back end of the ute, clinging on for dear life as the driver sped round
the corners and down the hills on the way to the pier. We had two dives at Sail Rock, the premium
dive site in the area and the most likely place to get another glimpse of Whale
Sharks, but despite excited shouts prior to the second dive (from seeing a
large shadow in the water) there was no joy on that score. Not to worry – we saw
a lot of other decent stuff (a variety of nudibranch, cool batfish, moray eels,
cleaner shrimp, jaans pipe fish).

Taking the big boys boat back to
Koh Samui |
Upon arriving back on dry land, we headed straight to the port and back to
Koh Samui. Was very nice to arrive at accommodation we were very comfortable in
(after scoring another free upgrade to a beach side view – sweet!), so enjoyed
another sunset at the rooftop pool.

Key Learnings:
1. Don’t trust the first price you get when it comes to private taxi transport
on Koh Pha Ngan – for the same journey back to the port this time we got it for
less than half our previous price…
