10/04/12 - Real journey begins, but not very quickly...

Some rock scrambling, then a great view from the peak of Mount Stapleton

Attempt #1 at getting up at sunrise – failed miserably. Took us slightly longer to fit everything back in the car as well, but headed off to climb Mt Stapleton mid morning.
Fun and games on the rocks

Bit of a rock scramble, especially to the peak, and got some light entertainment watching a guy repeatedly fail on the rock climbing route he was attempting
Fun and games - #2!

 .
Our trip outline of the day before marked us getting to Adelaide, but very quickly we realised this wouldn’t be possible. At around 4pm we understood that Mount Gambier was also too ambitious that day, so instead settled for a night in the ‘lovely’ seaside town of Portland (around 300km behind schedule already!). This marked the final resting place of the Mohawk. It was good whilst it lasted. Perhaps we'll meet again sometime...

Mount Stapleton in it's glory -
This is as far as I can get on the 10
second timer!

Key learnings
1. Take what petrol station servers say with regards to driving times with a pinch of salt…
2. The Portland hotel has a fantastic vegetable buffet – a great opportunity to load up
