26/05/12 - Aus trip in review - part #1

[Rather than identical photos to the previous days, thought we'd go back and share some photos that we either previously didn't have, or didn't make the cut. Here are the best of the whale shark snorkeling day]
You've got to admit - it is a pretty wide mouth!

The first snorkel was over some coral -
a couple of fancy needlefish here
Another rainy day in Phuket, hence another strenuous day in the resort. Given there are a few of these back to back, instead of poor attempts at humour it’s time to reflect on some of the highlights of our Australian road trip (these are in no particular order):

A typical diving sight
Top animal encounters:
           1.  Whale sharks in Exmouth – big mouths = big smiles!
          2.   Freshies (crocs) at Windjana gorge – sun bathing time
3.  Feeding dolphins at Monkey Mia – no hesitation when it comes to fish eating!
4.  Kangaroos lining the roads in Cape Range National Park  – take care not to hit one!
5.  Dinosaurs (footprints) at Broome – I’m sure we only missed them by 66,000 millenia…
It was about here we realised they'd
given us the wrong CD! This wasn't our
boat... Annoying...
No room anywhere for the leafy seadragon…
Still, we saw the same whale sharks
as the other boat on that day...

Top spots of natural beauty:
You get a good appreciation of how
close we got to these guys (and girls)
        1.  Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park (near Esperance)
        2. Cape Leveque – North of Broome
      3.  Wilpena Pound, from the air
      4.  Emma Gorge – at the Eastern end of the Gibb River Road
    5.  Bunta Cliffs, start of the Nullaboor
In case you were wondering - they're massive!
     6.   Remarkable Rocks – Kangaroo Island
       7.  Wave Rock – near Hyden, WA
       8.  Hamersley Gorge and Regans Pool, Karijini NP gorge day
        9.  Cable Beach (Broome) at sunset
       10.  The Bungle bungles’ beehive domes
And all too quickly,
they decide to sprint
away from you

Tried to keep it to 5, but too many amazing spots. Was going to include gazing at the night sky, but that was an overriding theme of the whole trip!
