27/05/12 - Aus trip in review - part #2

Doing our best Warhol impressions in the museum in Singapore - only made it in now as we had to take
a photo of the overpriced souvie photo we were coerced into buying (Big Al would have been so proud!)

Top moments of disagreement/panic:
For those of you who weren't sure why I had such a stupid
haircut at the beginning of the blog, it was due to the free cut on
offer at the Melbourne (Philip Island) Tough Mudder Event.
I wasn't the only one taking the Mohawk plunge, at least...
1.       Waiting for a tow stuck in sand on the Gibb River Road, a totally unsuitable place for the Beaut!
2.       Deciding to plough ahead towards Johanna Beach rather than cutting our losses and paying over the odds for a room, damaging the tent on night 1 in the process
Slightly muddy, post completion of Tough Mudder
The Beaut in one of it's finest river crossing
moments of glory. Going to really miss that car...
3.       Getting to the pier for the Exmouth Whale Shark tour, only to find our boat had already left…
4.       Whether to go for the peak route at Wilpena Pound, or the pound route (at 3pm)
5.       Turning the ignition and the engine not making a sound at Lake Argyle
Primarily car related, which is understandable given our reliance on it!

Top names of things we’d not heard of before:
1.       Zubenelgenubi  (and Zubeneschamali for that matter) – the stars in the balance beam of the Libra constellation
2.       Newdiegate – a town in northern SA. We had images of what this might mean, rather than Watergate…
3.       Bunta cliffs – not sure we need to give these any more airtime!
4.       Mandjoogoordap Drive - name of a road we saw as we headed in to Perth

Greg Quicke of Broome Astro Tours fame - introducing
us to a new way of thinking and some sweet star names!
5.       Innaloo – a suburb of Perth
