01/05/12 - City action

The photo took 3 attempts from a random stranger, but worth the end result!

Perth CBD from King's Park

A view of the water from the park,
along with a grinning idiot!
Some Boab tree action
Headed straight to King’s Park to get grandstand views of Perth, enjoying some welcome sunshine and relaxing wandering through the Botanic Gardens, plus some whispering shenanigans at the Anzac memorial.  From there we hit the CBD, where we quickly got distracted from our walking tour by the abundance of shops – we’d avoided anything other than food shopping for almost a month and were beginning to get withdrawal symptoms… Also had our first helping of fast food for the same length of time – we felt pretty guilty about itso only shared a Whopper meal at Hungry Jacks.

The Bell Tower - but where are the bells?
Obviously it was all high-
brow stuff in Perth CBD
A cheeky one pre dinner
Missed out on going up the Bell Tower as a result, but just made it to Cottesloe Beach for a beer overlooking a lovely sunset with views out to Rottnest Island. Despite our best attempts we were fortunate to leave the bar with all our belongings, then headed to Little Creatures in Freo for a couple more cheeky ones and a decent feed. We were getting used to this eating out lark! Had a stop off at South Perth to catch the CBD reflecting in the Swan river, then the Beaut failed to keep up with C&C’s wheels on the way back.

 Key Learnings
Perth lights by night
  1. Little Creatures originated in Fremantle, all their beer is brewed there and the Brunswick Street spin off is a decent replica of the original.
  2. Chris and Catherine are a fountain of Perth and WA knowledge – thanks again guys.

Beard update #2: Starting to look like a proper beard now after going through about 3 itchy phases – just a bit too ginger for both of our liking!
