| Freo buildings, in all their finery |
An oil check first thing was good timing – the Beaut
had been thirsty recently! We felt we hadn’t seen enough of Freo the day
before, so retraced our steps there and enjoyed strolling around the historic
buildings for a bit. Took the coastal route from there to the northern Perth
suburbs and more importantly AQWA – the Perth aquarium. It was there where Tony’s
demons were laid to rest and we finally got our eyes on a Leafy Seadragon. Some
might say that’s cheating a bit, which it probably is, but after the previous
fruitless searches we were chalking it up as a win. The whole aquarium was very
well laid out, and we got a good impression of the different underwater environments
across the whole of WA’s coast – we were hopefully going to see a fair bit of
it without being behind glass in the not too distant future!

Natures tombstones, plus a Tony shaped shadow... |
A solid drive later and we were at the unique Pinnacles Desert, which was
amazing yet strangely eerie. Got the best of the sunset over nature’s tombstones,
followed by a dusk drive to the nearest caravan park – sorry Rich for not
following your advice, but luckily no animal encounters of the car kind
occurred.

| Another day, another Aussie sky |
Key Learnings:
1.
Getting the Gazebo and tent wet prior to 3 nights of being packed up can
lead to some strange (i.e. unpleasant) smells…
2. Going to an aquarium is
a less time consuming venture than guideless snorkeling when it comes to
spotting Leafy Seadragons. It’s also a lot cheaper than diving to see them…
