Exciting driving ahead!

Yep - it was pretty straight!

The only camel we ended up seeing
No golf this morning – one bout of humiliation was sufficient… First up was
the longest straight road in Australia – 90 miles – pretty uninspiring driving!
Bit of respite from a stop at Balladonia where NASA’s skylab plumeted to ground,
where we enjoyed perusing the ‘museum’.

Agreed with the sentiment (aimed at you
Sarah) - the rocks were rubbish tho! |

Norseman's Tin Camels
Numerous waves later, we had finally crossed the single road of the
Nullarbor and now had a choice of turn offs from Norseman. After seeing the
highlights of the town (the tin camels and the lucky horse – see comment), it
was back on the road with Esperance our end destination, which we made in relatively
good time.

After catching up on missed calls, emails and texts we decided we deserved
a night off from the tent and got ourselves (and the car interior) a bit more
sorted in an apartment. It was also time for a washing load – won’t go in to
more detail here but it was required!
Key Learnings:
1. 1,800km in 3 days equates to a lot of time in the car, but crosswords and
sporcles are a great way to while away the time
2. Mice like the warmth of car bonnets (don’t ask!)
It is said that in 1894 a horse named "Hardy Norseman" was tethered to a tree for the night by its owner, Laurie Sinclair. Upon returning to his horse Sinclair had the good fortune to discover that "Norseman" had unearthed a gold nugget. Where can we get a horse like that?!?
