07/05/12 – A walk, a drive and a dive

On the way back, hence the smile...

Another spot of Kanga action on
our morning stroll
A bit of dune action
After being told it was a glorious 45 minute walk on the beach to the head of the bay, we set off in high spirits. Very quickly we realised that we weren’t able to get round on the beach due to the high tide, and upon heading into the dunes and bushland we lost any discernible path even quicker! Snakes were not mentioned, but thought of regularly… We arrived at the destination about an hour and a half later, and decided that we’d take the beach route back even if it meant wet shorts!

The unofficial big prawn
on the way in to Exmouth
Ins - pier - ing
After almost a 24hr break, it was back in the car and heading further up the coast to Exmouth, after stocking up on some prawns en route. It was then a lot of twiddling thumbs whilst we waited to start the dive on the Navy pier (see comment). Despite being finned in the face, waiting whilst a lady was escorted  to the drop line and being pushed out of the way by an over enthusiastic underwater photographer, it didn’t diminish potentially the best dive we’ve ever done (rated as being the 6th best shore dive in the world). The highlight was the Wobblegong shark, but there were lots to choose from…

Key Learnings
Gogglecam's final hurrah?
1.       Prawns work almost as well with Cajun spice as Annaliza chicken, and after munching on fruit, cake, chocolate and sweets (complimentary with the dive – we’d not got quite that unhealthy!) that’s all you really need for dinner.
2. Don’t continue to try and use flat batteries in gogglecam – it doesn’t like it. In fact, the amusing device may have had its final breath…
