25/04/12 - Peak and Beach bagging

Contributing to the cairn in the unique cave near the top of Frenchman's Peak

Kanga's for breakfast anyone?
Hellfire Bay - pretty sweet
Pottered round to see the rest of the National Park today, heading up to the top of Frenchman’s Peak. Great views but some Frenchies decided the peak was there’s so after waiting 10 mins realised they were not budging – not good peak etiquette! Whiled away the rest of the afternoon with some more lazing and sand castles on Thistle Cove and Hellfire Bay.

Sandcastle attempt #1 - failure
Sandcastle attempt #2 - can you tell
what it is yet? Ulhuru, and the
Olgas (foreground). Annaliza got it,
even if you didn't!

Went back to our sand dune spot in Lucky Bay for a game of Bezique pre dinner, and were lucky enough to see some kanga’s grazing on the beach. Not quite postcard perfect, but it’s what the beach is famous for so was good to see.

A secluded cove - beware jumping
from that rock...

Thistle Cove - also pretty sweet
Lucky bay again - our best attempt for
Wildlife Photographer of the Year...

Key Learnings
1. Don’t jump onto wet sand. It’s like concrete… Typical, get through Tough Mudder with superficial damage but manage to get an injury holidaying at the beach...
