White sand, blue sky - could get used to this! |

| Anyone for a snorkel? |
An early exit allowed us to explore the
remainder of the National Park that morning, and by 8:30am we were snorkeling
at the first of the recommended spots. 3 hours later and we’d added stingrays
and turtles to the list of marine life spotted, and Annaliza even caught a
glimpse of another white tipped reef shark.

Not the most impressive lookout to date - the jury was out on whether it was worth the 700m walk... |
Also headed to the more inland area of the NP
before leaving, where we made the executive decision to abandon the Beaut
before hitting the nastier parts of the gravel road and do the last 700m by
foot. The last thing we wanted was to revisit our painful experience in NT 3
years ago…

Dinner at Nikki's - the waitress needs a photography course... |

| The staircase |
Timed the drive to perfection, arriving at
Onslow just before sunset, giving us time to set up camp before our dinner
booking. After pigging out slightly on seafood, we headed to the beach to watch
the staircase to the moon spectacle. Needless to say, a massive highlight for
Annaliza and worth every second of the 122km (one-way) detour!
Key Learnings:
1.
Snorkeling without flippers is knackering – take great care when continuing
to swim out when currents are involved!
